1. State-Sponsored Scholarships and Financial Aid

New York State offers several financial aid programs to make college more affordable. Here are some available scholarships and programs:

  • Excelsior Scholarship: Free tuition at SUNY and CUNY schools.

  • TAP (Tuition Assistance Program): Grants for NY residents at in-state colleges based on income.

  • Enhanced Tuition Awards (ETA): Financial help for private colleges in NY.

  • STEM Incentive Program: Full tuition for top students pursuing STEM degrees at SUNY or CUNY.

  • Memorial Scholarships: Aid for families of deceased or disabled public service workers.

  • Child Welfare Worker Incentive Scholarship: Support for social work students.

  • Regents Awards: Aid for children of deceased or disabled veterans.

  • Scholarships for Academic Excellence: For outstanding high school graduates.

2. FAFSA/DREAM Act Application

To access most financial aid, your child must complete:

DREAM Act Eligibility:

  • Attended a NY high school for at least 2 years and graduated or earned a GED in NY.

  • Eligible for in-state tuition at a NY college.

3. Support and Assistance

We offer the following resources:

  • Workshops: HESC and Federal Student Aid provide online workshops. Check hesc.ny.gov and studentaid.gov for details.

  • One-on-One Assistance: Contact your child’s school counselor for help.

  • Referral Services: We can connect you with organizations specializing in financial aid.

4. Waiver Option

If you decide not to apply for financial aid, you can file a waiver to indicate your decision. Contact the school counseling office for more information on this process.
