Millbrook Tribute Garden Merit Scholarship Application

Please see your counselor for more information about the Millbrook Tribute Garden Scholarship opportunity. Flyers may be obtained at your School Counselor's office. 

The annual awards are established at:

$5,000 for those students attending a four-year college, or $2,500 for those attending a 2-year college. 

New York State offers several financial aid programs to make college more affordable. Here are some available scholarships and programs:

  • Excelsior Scholarship: Free tuition at SUNY and CUNY schools.

  • TAP (Tuition Assistance Program): Grants for NY residents at in-state colleges based on income.

  • Enhanced Tuition Awards (ETA): Financial help for private colleges in NY.

  • STEM Incentive Program: Full tuition for top students pursuing STEM degrees at SUNY or CUNY.

  • Memorial Scholarships: Aid for families of deceased or disabled public service workers.

  • Child Welfare Worker Incentive Scholarship: Support for social work students.

  • Regents Awards: Aid for children of deceased or disabled veterans.

  • Scholarships for Academic Excellence: For outstanding high school graduates.

NYSIR Student Scholarship-2025

The Board of Trustees of the New York Schools Insurance Foundation and the Board of Governors of the New York Schools Insurance Reciprocal are pleased to announce that they are once again offering Cristin Ann Bambino, Paul Jensen and Joseph Goncalves scholarship awards for the coming year. These scholarships are for college-bound students from NYSIR-subscribing districts only. Criteria and applications are attached and will also be available on nysir.org at https://www.nysir.org/page/2025-scholarship-application. A committee will review all applications and scholarship winners will be notified in May.

MEF SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION

DEADLINE TO APPLY: MAY 1, 2025

Attention, graduating seniors! If you're in good academic standing at Millbrook Central School District and have been accepted to a 2-year or 4-year college, technical or trade school, you're eligible to apply for MEF's scholarships and awards! 

Our Scholarship Committee will carefully review all applications and select four deserving recipients. Don't miss this incredible opportunity-apply today! 

The John and Agnes Marona Scholarship (1 recipient will receive $2,000) 

This annual scholarship was created in 2010 to honor the memory of John Marona. Mr. Marona was a respected, long-time civic and business leader in the Millbrook community. He graduated at the head of his class at Millbrook High School. This scholarship will be awarded to a graduating high school senior who has demonstrated the traits that John and Agnes felt important: a high level of community involvement, a high level of school spirit, and maintaining good academic standing. 

Application should include your high school transcript and essay. You may also include a letter of recommendation from a guidance counselor, teacher, advisor, or a coach; however, a letter of recommendation is NOT necessary

Essay: Describe, in a short essay of 500 words or less, your involvement in your local community throughout your high school career and the impact that this has made on your local community. In addition, please describe the activities you were involved in as a high school student at MCSD, the ways in which you demonstrated a high level of school spirit, and the positive impact this made on your school and/or fellow students. 

The Millbrook Educational Foundation Scholarship (MEF) (2 recipients will receive $2,000 each) 

This annual scholarship was created in 2005 to recognize two graduating high school seniors who have been involved in school activities and positively added to the high school experience for their fellow students

Application should include your high school transcript and essay. You may also include a letter of recommendation from a guidance counselor, teacher, advisor, or a coach; however, a letter of recommendation is NOT necessary

Essay: Describe, in a short essay of 500 words or less, the activities you were involved in as a high school student at MCSD, some meaningful lessons that you learned from being involved in these activities, and the positive impact your involvement made on your school and/or fellow students. 

The MEF Outstanding Character Scholarship (1 recipient will receive $2,000) 

This annual scholarship was created in 2002 to recognize a graduating senior who has consistently demonstrated outstanding character in school and the community. This scholarship wishes to emphasize that good grades and athletic talent aren't the only achievements that can help pay your way through college; demonstrating outstanding character can also earn you a scholarship. This scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior who has demonstrated their outstanding character through a specific act, or through a commitment to a community effort or 

cause. 

Application should include your high school transcript and essay. You may also include a letter of recommendation from a guidance counselor, teacher, advisor, or a coach; however, a letter of recommendation is NOT necessary

Essay: In a short essay of 500 words or fewer, describe what 'Outstanding Character' means to you. How have you demonstrated outstanding character throughout your time at Millbrook High School and within the local Millbrook community? 
 

Please submit your application to your guidance counselor and specify the scholarship for which you are applying.
